The village of Curçay has left numerous traces of Neolithic, Gallic and Gallo-Roman settlements. Queen Blanche Bridge owes its name to Queen Blanche of Castile, who came to hold a parliament of justice in the 13th century, accompanied by her son, the future Saint Louis. A century later, the village became one of the strategic keys in the line of defence against the English, and to this end Hugues de Curçay transformed the castle into a defence tower (private site). Today, opposite the keep, you’ll find a collection of ancient grape varieties offering an educational trail of 50 varieties of grape. Thanks to a Terra Aventura trail, make a great discovery of the village while having’fun as a family!
