Château de Ternay

TERNAY

A privately-owned historic monument considered a small treasure of the Loire Valley and Poitou. Furnished and inhabited castle.
His military actions and his career as a diplomat and creditor at the court of the Dukes of Anjou and the Kings of France enabled the Chevalier de Beauvau to amass a considerable fortune. In 1439, work began on the construction of his new château: a hexagonal keep of remarkable proportions, a chapel considered to be a marvel of flamboyant Gothic art, and the inner courtyard with 2 superimposed galleries, a testament to delicacy and refinement.
At the end of the tour, take part in a riddle game to find out the identity of a knight. Discover the art of heraldry. This new activity has been awarded “Coup de cœur” status by the Agence de créativité et d’attractivité du Poitou (ACAP) in 2021.
