11 kms of cycling through two villages: Saix and Roiffé!
Two people have left their mark on the history of Roiffé: Marie de la Ferre and Izaac de Razilly. At the request of his cousin (Cardinal de Richelieu), Izaac de Razilly joined forces with Menou d’Aulnay and sold the Château des Eaux Melle (his birthplace) and his other possessions and left for Acadia.
What is Acadia? An agricultural colony established in New France in the 17th century.
